For A Lifetime of Healthy Smiles!

A Crown is a common type of tooth restoration. Dr Brymer typically recommends a crown when older fillings begin to breakdown, the tooth is fractured or chipped, or if the tooth structure becomes weak for any other reason. Many times a crown is needed following root canal treatment. Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure as well as enhance the appearance of your teeth.

The good news is that today crowns are made of porcelain and are matched in color to naturally blend in with your healthy teeth.

 Indications for a crown:
  • When more filling than tooth exists leaving the natural tooth weak.
  • Decay damage that is not repairable with a filling.
  • A fractured or broken tooth.
  • After root canal treatment, teeth tend to become brittle and prone to a fracture.
  • When missing teeth are replaced with a bridge, the adjacent teeth require crowns in order to support the replacement teeth.

Fitting a crown normally requires two visits to our office. During your first visit, Dr. Brymer will prepare and shape the tooth for crown placement, take an impression or model of the tooth, then place a temporary crown over the prepared tooth. The temporary crown will remain in place until your final customized crown is returned from the lab. During your next and final visit, Dr. Brymer will place, adjust and cement the final crown into place.

If your teeth are discolored, chipped, cracked or crooked, veneers may be a great choice for you. Dental veneers are thin pieces of specially shaped porcelain that are attached to the front surface of the natural tooth with a special bonding agent. These cap-like covers can also be used to correct uneven spacing or gaps between the teeth. Cosmetic veneers are often used to give patients a brighter, whiter smile with evenly aligned and shaped teeth.

Regardless of what causes unattractive teeth, Dr. Brymer can apply dental veneers to solve most cosmetic dental issues, including:
  • Thinning enamel
  • Worn teeth
  • Tooth discoloration
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Uneven or crooked teeth

Cosmetic veneers won't stain thus making them a popular choice for patients seeking the perfect smile. In addition to being esthetically pleasing, dental veneers serve a functional purpose by protecting the surface of the tooth.
